All residents are required to comply with the policies, regulations and guidelines as well as the specific house rules of their Hall/College.
GENERAL POLICIES
Admission policy
P-1 policy
Admission on each occasion is for one year only. Residents may be re-admitted in subsequent years on the basis of the criteria for re-admission and such is not automatic. From the academic year of 2024-25, residents whose residential years are equal to or exceed the normative study period minus one year (P-1) will be given the lowest priority when they apply for residency. Exceptions for special circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis, with the recommendations from the Warden and endorsement from the Chairman and Vice-chairman of the Committee on Halls. GPA policy
On the academic performance component of the merit score, it will be calculated based on applicants’ Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). To be considered for re-admission, applicants must obtain a CGPA of 2.0 or above.
Pairing policy
The Committee on Halls, at its meeting on April 19, 2023, confirmed the adoption of a new policy aimed at promoting integration and cultural exchanges among hallmates. The goal is to enhance the overall student experience and create a more inclusive community. Beginning in the academic year 2023-24, the General Offices of the Halls will assign roommates for newly admitted residents in double or triple rooms, pairing local and non-local students whenever possible. This policy applies to both new and returning students who have previously lived in another hall. (C.O.H. 19.4.2023)

Hall Student Activities Fund guideline
The Hall Student Activities Fund guidelines aim to enhance financial practices and ensure compliance with control procedures and protocols for Hall Student Associations, fostering collaboration between the University and the respective Hall SAs. A clear and transparent financial framework for the operation of Hall SAs is established, ensuring consistency and fairness in the financial process. The University will provide support and oversight, while the SAs will maintain control over their budgets.
Hall Orientation guideline
The Hall Orientation guidelines are established to ensure that organizers of the orientation programmes recognize the priorities of new residents and create supportive welcoming activities to facilitate residents' transition into a new living and learning environment.
